In the past, Mangaroo has been able to keep costs down by shipping manga requests via media mail to U.S. destinations. Unfortunately, an unpublished USPS policy that prohibits the shipping of "comic books" via media mail means that I have had to increase shipping fees, effective immediately.
I'm very sorry for the inconvenience to you, but I am also disappointed that the USPS would classify manga/graphic novels/sequential art published in book format, with an assigned ISBN, as something other than a book. Harry Potter, Stephen King, Harlequin romance novels and children's picture books longer than 8 pages may all be shipped media mail, but a manga tankouban may not?
Please consider contacting your post office to protest this bias. You can begin by calling 1-800-ASK-USPS (1-800-275-8777), which will provide the number of your local Bulk Mail Acceptance office.
